One of the first Maldivian surgeons, Dr. Abdullah Waheed passed away on 20th September, 2022.
Dr. Waheed passed away yesterday morning while under treatment for Pneumonia at Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital. He was 65 years of age.
Dr. Waheed fulfilled several noteworthy posts in government including the State Minister of Health Ministry and also acted as the President of the Police Integrity Commission. Moreover, he headed IGMH for a short period of time.
Dr. Waheed had stopped consulting after suffering the stroke and proceeded to do research and write a blog till his passing. He left behind a wife and two sons.
