Ooredoo Maldives, one of the country’s main telecommunications operators, recorded a net profit of MVR 97 million in the second quarter of 2021.
According to Ooredoo’s quarterly financial report, the telecom company generated MVR 423 million in total revenue during the second quarter, comprising MVR 320 million from mobile services, MVR 102 million from fixed, internet, and enterprise services, and MVR 187,000 from other services.
This reflects a 5.3% decrease from the first quarter, when total revenue was MVR 447 million. However, it is 3.3% greater than the overall revenue made by the company in the second quarter of last year.
Furthermore, Ooredoo reported an operating profit of MVR 115 million and a net profit of MVR 97.6 million for the second quarter, a 20.2% decrease from the first quarter’s net profit of MVR 122 million.
According to Ooredoo, the fall in total revenue was caused by the COVID-19 situation, which had a substantial impact on the revenue generated by its roaming services.
