Commissioner of Police Mohamed Hameed has revealed that an additional 69 kilograms of drugs has been seized in an operation conducted at Gaafu Dhaalu Atoll bringing the total weight of the confiscated drugs in the operation to 82 kilograms.
CP Hameed tweeted that 13 kilograms of drugs were found buried in Hoadehdhoo on October 27 and 69 kilograms of drugs were found from an uninhabited island near Hoadehdhoo today. Moreover, the drugs seized so far include meth and heroin.
The now infamous drug operation has caused controversy after an alleged suspect in the operation died after suffering chest pain while being taken into custody. The body of the deceased has now been taken to India for post-mortem against the family’s will.
