The education ministry announced on Sunday that more than half of the country’s eligible students have received the first dose of the Pfizer vaccine.
According to a statement made by the education ministry, the first dosage of vaccination has been given to 20,239 schoolchildren aged 12 to 17 years old in the Maldives.
The Maldives received 128,700 doses of Pfizer Covid-19 vaccine through the COVAX facility on August 9, which kicked off the children’s immunization campaign.
According to the education ministry, the initiative will vaccinate nearly 40,000 students.
364,847 people have received the first dose as part of the Maldives government’s massive effort to vaccinate 90% of the eligible population by the end of August, while 298,418 have received both doses.
