The People’s Majlis accepted Dr. Asim Ahmed’s appointment as Maldivian Non-Residential Ambassador to the Kingdom of Morocco on Monday.
On May 14, Asim’s name was forwarded to the parliamentary committee for review. He had received parliament’s approval with a majority vote of 53 MPs.
Asim earned a Bachelor of Arts from the University of the South Pacific in Fiji, a Master of Philosophy in Development Studies from the Institute of Development Studies (IDS) at the University of Sussex in the United Kingdom, and a Doctor of Philosophy from Victoria University of Wellington in New Zealand.
He is the Permanent Representative to the UN Office and other International Organizations in Geneva. He also served as Ambassador-at-Large in the Maldivian Foreign Ministry.
