Parliament has voted in favor of appointing Shifla Ibrahim to the Maldives Broadcasting Commission (BroadCom).
Following a review of the three applicants nominated by the President, the Parliamentary Committee on Independent Institutions endorsed Shifla Ibrahim. She was then approved unanimously by the Parliament with votes from 71 MPs.
Shifla Ibrahim had spent many years at Television Maldives (TVM) as a TV host, news anchor, and journalist. She holds a Bachelor of Journalism degree from Maldives National University (MNU) and a Master of Journalism and Media Communication degree from the Islamic University of the Maldives (IUM).
BroadCom is a seven-member commission led by President Maryam Waheeda and comprised of members Mohamed Fazeen, Aminath Ameena, Ali Yoosuf, and Amjad Waheed.
