The Parliamentary Committee on Public Accounts has given their approval to Hussain Niyazi for the Auditor General post.
Niyazi is one of the most senior chartered accountants in the Maldives. He has worked at the Auditor General’s Office for over 15 years. He is currently serving as the Assistant Auditor General.
President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih nominated Niyazi as the Auditor General after the resignation of Hassan Ziyath from the position last month amid allegations of his involvement in the MMPRC scandal.
The endorsement of Niyazi as the Auditor General was passed by the parliamentary committee unanimously on July 4.
