The People’s Majlis has requested that the defense ministry provide protection for DRP leader and Kaashidhoo MP Abdulla Jabir.
Jabir had sought a security detail from the Majlis after being assaulted by a group of locals in AA. Mathiveri earlier this week. In response, the Majlis wrote to Defense Minister Mariya Didi, requesting a protection detail for the legislator.
The Maldives Police stated on Thursday that two people suspected of attacking Jabir in AA. Mathiveri had been apprehended.
The suspects, who were apprehended under a court order on Wednesday night, were identified as a 19-year-old male and a 42-year-old male.
