Baa Atoll Hospital has told people who returned from Eydhafushi since April 1st to self-isolate due to the recent COVID-19 cases detected on the island.
Eydhafushi has now recorded 37 positive cases of COVID-19 since detecting the first case of community spread on April 19th.
Baa Atoll Hospital instructed individuals who have travelled from Eydhafushi after April 1st to self-isolate and inform the nearest hospital or health centre. In addition to this, they were asked to remain in quarantine until they test negative for COVID-19.
However, people who travelled from Eydhafushi to Greater Male’ region after April 1st have been asked to remain in quarantine for 14 days even if the initial test result is negative.
The hospital said the reason for the recent spread of COVID-19 is yet unknown, but the measures taken to control the spread of the virus on the island have been strengthened.
