Maldives Police Service and Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF) have begun a counter-terrorism operation in Male’ City and Addu City.
Authorities tweeted that Police and MNDF’s joint counter-terrorism operation will be carried out at sea as well. However, they did not publicize any further details but said they will update about the operation as it progresses.
Local news reports that Police and MNDF are searching a residential house in Addu City Hithadhoo as part of the operation. The residence has previously been searched during counter-terrorism operations as well.
