The Maldives Police Service stated on Thursday that a narcotics raid resulted in the arrest of ten people and the seizure of about 100 kg of heroin.
Police Commissioner Mohamed Hameed described the operation as a well-executed counter-narcotics trafficking operation by the Drug Enforcement Department (DED), Drug Intelligence, Marine Police, and Forensics.
He stated that throughout the 24-hour operation, police detained ten individuals, inspected ten sites, and confiscated about 100 kilos of heroin.
But officials have refused to reveal the precise site of the operation that resulted in arrests and the seizure of narcotics. According to reports, authorities intercepted a cargo of heroin smuggled into the Maldives by sea.
In September, police raided 24 drug dens in Male’ City as part of their efforts to fight drug trafficking in the Maldives.
