The ongoing investigation into the abrupt and suspicious suicide of a foreign nurse working at Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH) has culminated in the arrest of her husband, the Maldives Police Service confirmed on Tuesday.
Mary Grace Pineda, a female Filipino working as a hemodialysis nurse at IGMH, was reported dead last Tuesday. The probe into her apparent suicide resulted in the arrest of her spouse, a 29-year-old Filipino who also works at IGMH as an ER nurse.
Authorities made the arrest after noting that there were “other elements that needed to be looked at” in the suicide investigation. The victim’s body, according to sources, showed evidence of physical harm.
The Maldives Police has yet to reveal any other details about the suicide probe.
