Maldives Police Service has made one arrest in a special anti-terror operation conducted in Villimale’.
As part of the special covert operation, several houses were searched and one arrest was made on Thursday night. Moreover, several electronic items were confiscated from these houses as part of the investigation.
No official statement has been provided by the Maldives Police Service concerning the operation. However, Criminal Court stated to a local news media outlet that one person was arrested concerning terrorism-related charges and Maldives Police Service have requested a remand of the suspect.
In the wake of the May 6th Terror Attack, several anti-terrorism operations are being conducted across the nation. The rising number of individuals brainwashed by extremist organizations such as ISIS has threatened national security and Maldives Police Service along with Maldives National Defence Force have strengthened the security in the Greater Male’ Area.
