Maldives Police Service on Thursday began the operation to arrest high-profile individuals involved in the sex scandal leaked on social media.
According to local news sources, Police obtained a court order to arrest the individuals today. The court order issued by the Criminal Court includes arrest warrants for prominent lawyer Nazim Abdul Sattar, former MP Mohamed Nasheed (Carnal), and Officer at the Drug Enforcement Department of Police, Abdulrahman Rafeeu.
Moreover, many speculate that former MP Mohamed Nasheed (Colonel) has already been arrested while Police continue to search and arrest other individuals.
Videos and photos of many high-profile individuals engaging in sexual relations with a Bangladeshi named MD Alamgir were leaked on social media in the past weeks. MD Almagir was arrested at a guesthouse in Maafannu, Male’ City under direct court order. Moreover, his passport along with other individuals have also been withheld as the investigation continues.
