Maldives Police Service has commenced a special operation to conduct safety checks on marine vessels in time for Eid holidays.
Police stated the safety operation is being conducted ahead of the upcoming Eid holidays, which would see a rise in the use of marine transport. The programme aims to ensure all marine vessels carrying passengers have the necessary safety equipment and resources, and follow the required safety protocols, according to Police.
Vessels travelling to the atolls, as well as vessels docked in the Male’ North Harbour and T-Jetty, will be checked under this operation. Moreover, the crew of the vessels will also be briefed on marine safety as part of this operation.
The safety operation s an initiative of the Marine Investigation Department and the Marine Enforcement and Operations Department of Maldives Police Service.
