Maldives Police Service has denied the involvement of foreign consultants in the investigation of leaked videos and blackmailing of some prominent political personalities of the Maldives.
In the statement issued on June 29, police clarified that there is no involvement of any foreign counterparts in the investigation of the blackmailing and leaked video cases and assured that the cases are being investigated solely by the Serious and Organised Crime Department of MPS.
Some media reports had claimed a team from the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) is in the Maldives for the investigation of the blackmailing and leaked videos. However, this claim has now been refuted by police.
