Maldives Police Service has warned the public against traveling by sea during the current adverse weather conditions in the country.
Chief Superintendent of Police Adnan Anees said that individuals should refrain from traveling even after obtaining the latest weather-related information, as numerous incidents at sea were reported on July 1 in Kaafu Atoll alone. He said that no one was injured in the incidents but advised the public to travel after the current bad weather subsides.
Furthermore, Chief Superintendent Anees warned that the rainy weather and high wind speeds will prevent vessels from safely traveling within the Maldives and urged boat captains and crewmen to take the necessary safety precautions before traveling and make sure the vessel would be able to withstand the rough seas.
