Maldives Police Service has received backlash for the arrest of an elderly woman during a protest by the opposition in Malé City yesterday.
Videos circulating on social media show police officers using brute force to catch an elderly woman and seize the national flag out of her hands. The woman was seen resisting at first but the police were seen pulling her away.
The Commissioner of Police Mohamed Haneef tweeted on Monday that he would investigate the ongoing fires in the country and the arrest of an elderly woman during last night’s protest.
