Maldives Police Service on Friday summoned Parliament Speaker Mohamed Nasheed’s brother, Nazim Abdul Sattar, over a video that allegedly showed him engaging in homosexual acts with another man leaked on social media.
Regarding the leaked video, the Police said they had already launched an investigation after multiple cases of blackmail were reported to the service. The video posted on social media on Friday is also being investigated, the Police confirmed, further assuring that the necessary steps were being taken during the investigation. However, both Nazim and Police refused to comment on the case any further.
The explicit video released on Friday shows a local man, believed to be Nazim, and a foreign man engaged in sexual acts. However, Nazim denies that the man in the video is him.
