Maldives President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has directed the Privatization and Corporatization Board to dismiss Hussain Amr Mohamed Rashad, the Managing Director of State Trading Organization (STO), along with his position on the company’s board of directors.
The decision was made as part of the President’s periodic changes to the management of state-owned enterprises, according to a spokesperson from the President’s Office.
The replacement for Amr’s position has yet to be announced by the President’s Office. Amr was aligned with Maldivian Democratic Party leader Mohamed Nasheed, who was in opposition to President Solih’s candidacy during the last election.
Amr had represented Nasheed in some of the negotiations with Jumhoory Party.
