President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has forwarded the list of candidates for the post of Anti-Corruption Commission’s (ACC) membership to the Parliament for approval.
President’s Office Spokesperson, Mohamed Mabrook Azeez said that the names forwarded today will only be disclosed by the Parliament.
Meanwhile, all posts of ACC remain vacant following the resignation of all five members composing the commission, amidst the Parliament’s Independent Institutions Committee’s recommendation of the dismissal of members due to underperformance.
As per the Constitution, a new member should be appointed to ACC within 60 days of dismissal or resignation.
President Solih said that the next phase of investigation carried out by the Asset Recovery Commission and ACC of the infamous MMPRC scandal will be carried out once the new ACC is formed.
