During a ceremony held at the recently opened Kudagiri Island, President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih announced ambitious plans for further development in the area. The President revealed his vision for a separate island that would cater specifically to students, providing a unique environment for them to study, camp, and engage in various youth organizations such as scouts and girl guides.
The President acknowledged that during the development of Kudagiri, discussions were held about the possibility of creating a student-centric island. Now that the picnic island is officially open, the President sees it as the perfect opportunity to follow through with this plan. He emphasized that it is the government’s intention to make this a reality, and has entrusted the HDC with the responsibility of bringing this project to fruition.
The President expressed his hope and appeal that the HDC will act swiftly in developing the student island and providing necessary services to the students. He views this as an opportunity to offer a unique experience to the young people of the country and help shape the future leaders of the nation.
Kudagiri Island, which was officially opened on Saturday, is meant to be a recreational haven for those living in the Greater Male region. President Solih has made it a priority to provide a much-needed escape from the congested city life for the citizens of Male. This latest development, the student island, is a continuation of his efforts to provide better quality of life for the people of the Maldives.
