President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has appointed Kinbidhoo MP Mohamed Nashiz as his official election agent for the upcoming presidential election scheduled for September 9. As per the General Elections Act, every presidential candidate is required to appoint an election agent before running for office.
Nashiz, who previously served as President Solih’s campaign manager in the MDP presidential primary, brings valuable experience to the role. Both President Solih and Nashiz are in the process of clearing their criminal records, seemingly in a bid to present a clean image to the voters.
President Solih’s campaign is already in full swing, with visits to 30 islands to engage with citizens and discuss his government’s achievements and plans. However, the crucial decision of announcing his running mate is yet to be made. Incumbent Vice President Faisal Naseem and MDP Parliamentary Group Leader Mohamed Aslam have expressed their interest in the position.
As the election draws near, the nation waits eagerly to cast their votes and determine the course of the Maldives’ future for the next presidential term.
