President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has participated in the virtual “Summit for Democracy” held by US President Joe Biden on Thursday evening.
The event, which was virtually hosted by the White House, was attended by other global leaders, heads of international and civic organizations, and non-governmental participants from across the world.
The summit’s objectives include strengthening democracy and defending against authoritarianism, combating corruption, and promoting respect for human rights. Furthermore, the summit addressed the global and domestic threats to democracy.
According to the President’s Office, President Solih spoke at the event about the importance of democracy and the critical role it plays in allowing countries to coexist peacefully in the modern era, emphasizing that peace was achieved through genuine faith in the undeniable benefits of collaboration and cooperation among like-minded governments.
