President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has finished his official visit to New York City, where he attended the United Nations General Assembly’s (UNGA) 76th session.
President Solih gave his UNGA address in Dhivehi during his visit, marking a watershed event for the Maldives. He highlighted the COVID-19 pandemic in his speech, noting that it has demonstrated how linked we are in today’s globe and emphasizing the necessity of teamwork.

In his address, President Solih also emphasized the rising danger of terrorism and reiterated his commitment to working with the international community to defeat it.
He also reiterated the Maldives’ stance on the Palestine issue, pushing for Palestine’s recognition as a sovereign state.
