President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih on Thursday dissolved the Asset Recovery Commission.
The Presidential Commission on Corruption and State Asset Recovery was established on 17 November 2018. The Commission is tasked with recovering state assets lost from 1st January 2012 till 17th November 2018, and to ensure that all responsible authorities carry out their legal duties in investigating corruption and abuse of power within government institutions.
However, the work of the Assets Recovery Commission has been ineffective and did not produce reasonable results. Moreover, The President’s Office has not stated a reason for dissolving the commission.
