President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih formally inaugurated the physical asphalt laying work on the Hdh. Hanimaadhoo Road Project on Sunday, as part of his three-day visit to Haa Dhaalu Atoll.
The physical work began on Sunday with a special event at Hanimaadhoo attended by top government officials and island residents.
According to Maldives Transport and Contracting Company, the scope of the project involves pouring asphalt on 20 major roads totaling 44,000 square meters with road markings, building walkways, and installing a storm water management system.
The road development project is expected to cost MVR 46.7 million.
