President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih launched the oneGov platform, which brings government services together in one digital interface, making it easier for people to interact with the government.
The goal of the oneGov platform is to make it unnecessary to travel between islands to access government services and to address issues caused by a lack of information. It also aims to get rid of the hassle of printing forms for service applications. President Solih believes that the platform, which offers government services online 24/7, will help fight corruption, reduce paper usage, and support the environment and economy.
The TradeNet Maldives Corporation Limited, under the Ministry of Economic Development, will manage the oneGov platform. Currently, the platform provides 111 services from five institutions: the Ministry of Economic Development, Ministry of Tourism, Ministry of National Planning, Housing and Infrastructure, Health Protection Agency, and Fuvahmulah City Council. This means that the public and businesses can access a range of services, such as permits, documents, and complaint submissions.
TradeNet developed the oneGov platform to make it quick and convenient for the public to access services from these institutions. Users can find information about the services, fill out and submit forms, and track the progress of their applications. The forms only require relevant information for each service, and personal details like national identification card information are already available on the platform.
Moreover, individuals can dial 1500 to access any government service through the oneGov platform, eliminating the need to call different agencies’ specific numbers. To ensure accessibility, oneGov support centers have been set up in Male’ City, Fuvahmulah City, and Addu City. The government plans to establish more support centers and eventually make all government services available through the oneGov platform.
