President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has promised to find a solution to the high ticket prices to Madivaru Regional Airport after many complain about recently announced ticket prices by Island Aviation Services (IAS).
Speaking at the ceremony to hand over 100 social housing units constructed at Lh. Naifaru to the island’s council, President Solih said the opening of Madivaru Airport will boost the economy in the region and be a much needed convenience to the residents of the atoll.
IAS stated a one-way ticket to Madivaru Regional Airport will cost MVR 1,029. Many have expressed their disappointment regarding the high ticket prices.
President Solih said though it is difficult to make a statement regarding the current prices, he promised to find a solution for this as soon as possible after discussion with IAS.
President Solih said this Madivaru Regional Airport is one of the most fully equipped airports in the Maldives with top-class facilities. Moreover, Kuredhoo Holdings have expressed their interest in turning the domestic/regional airport into an international airport and relevant discussions are currently underway with MTCC.
President Solih also added that this airport will be very important to boost guesthouse and homestay tourism in the atoll. Moreover, it will open up many employment opportunities for the people of the Lhaviyani Atoll.
