President’s Office has refused to publish details of the official trip to the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) by President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih and his delegation.
Dhiyares news request to obtain the details regarding the official trip made by President Solih and his delegation was approved by the Information Commissioner’s office. However, President’s Office only published the number of expenses incurred and no receipts were published despite the request from Dhiyares news.
Moreover, the President’s Office has now appealed the decision taken by the Information Commissioner’s office at High Court to withhold further details regarding the trip, citing security risks.
According to the details published by the President’s Office, a total of MVR 5.3 million was spent to attend the 76th UNGA by the President and his delegation. This includes;
- MVR 2.1 million for accommodation and food
- MVR 2.3 million for tickets
- MVR 577,206 for travel expenses
- MVR 326,730 for incidental and pocket money
However, no receipts or invoices were provided by the President’s Office despite the request made by Dhiyares news.
