The Male City Council has hired Road Development Corporation (RDC) to pave asphalt and rehabilitate 16 more roads in Male’ City.

The agreement, signed yesterday at a special ceremony at Hotel Jen, expands RDC’s area of work under the Male’ City Streetscaping Project, requiring them to upgrade 105 streets totaling 51.3 kilometers.

Mayor Muizzu explained during the signing ceremony that the new agreement was formed to revise the previous agreement to guarantee that the work under project is finished as soon as possible.

Muizzu also stated that the public would encounter some problems during the two years while the project is in process, but that the initiative will fix some of the long-standing concerns with the roads.

Male’ City Council stated that the project would also include the extension of the road near Male’ North Harbour to alleviate congestion in the region.

Furthermore, the city council stated that the roads being built as part of the project will be greener and more accessible to those with disabilities. Furthermore, it will make vehicle parking, as well as unloading and loading products, easier.

The following roads are being paved as part of the project: Ameenee Magu, Kanba Aisa Rani Hingun, Shahid Ali Hingun, Izzudheen Magu, Handhuvaree Hingun, Chaandhanee Magu, Buruzu Magu, Lonuziyaarai Magu, Rahdhebai Magu, Muranga Magu, Muiveyo Magu, Maaveyo Magu, Haveeree Hingun, Lily Magu, Boduthakurufaanu Magu, and Alikileygefaanu Magu.
