The second phase of the road development project in Ungoofaaru, Raa Atoll, has been granted to Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC).
The Ministry of National Planning, Housing, and Infrastructure (MNPHI) awarded the project on October 31 for MVR 21.6 million.
According to the MNPHI, the project would entail the asphalting of new roads, the installation of a water drainage system, and the installation of street lighting.
The agreement for the project, which is expected to be completed in 365 days, was signed by MTCC CEO Adam Azim and MNPHI Permanent Secretary Zeeniya Hameed.
The road development project in Ungoofaaru began in 2016, with asphalt laying and pavement installation on 15 roads, however work was delayed due to a change in government.
Despite pleas from the local council to expand it to 6, asphalt laying activities will be carried out on 5 roads during the project’s second phase.
