President Wavel Ramkalawan and First Lady Linda Ramkalawan of Seychelles have embarked on a state visit to the Maldives. Their visit, which spans from June 11th to June 14th, comes as a response to an invitation extended by President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih.
Welcoming President Ramkalawan and First Lady Linda Ramkalawan, along with their accompanying delegation, was Minister of Foreign Affairs Abdulla Shahid at Velana International Airport (VIA). An official welcome ceremony is scheduled to take place on June 12th, reinforcing the significance of the visit.
The primary objective of President Ramkalawan’s visit is to engage in bilateral discussions with President Solih, aiming to foster and fortify the existing ties between the two nations. The anticipated outcome of these deliberations includes the signing of several agreements and the issuance of a joint statement to encapsulate the key achievements and areas of mutual interest.
The presence of President Ramkalawan in the Maldives underscores the cordial and robust relationship shared between the two countries. This visit is poised to facilitate even greater collaboration and cooperation, propelling the Maldives and Seychelles towards mutually beneficial endeavors. It is noteworthy that diplomatic relations between the Maldives and Seychelles were formally established on July 1, 1980.
