On Friday, Foreign Minister Abdulla Shahid met with India’s Prime Minister Narendra Modi on his official visit to India as President-elect of the 76th United Nations General Assembly.
According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Minister Shahid thanked Prime Minister Modi for India’s assistance during the 76th United Nations General Assembly election. Furthermore, the foreign ministry added that Shahid spoke with Modi about the work he intends to pursue as UNGA President.
Minister Shahid further thanked the Indian government for its unwavering assistance to the Maldives.
The meeting was also attended by India’s Deputy Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Ambassador Nagaraj Naidu Kumar, who has been designated as Shahid’s Chef de Cabinet, and Dr. Hussain Niyaaz, the Maldives’ High Commissioner to India.
