Minister of Foreign Affairs Abdulla Shahid has met with his Japanese counterpart Toshimitsu Motegi.
According to a tweet from the Maldives foreign ministry, the meeting took place on Friday as part of Minister Shahid’s official travel to Japan as President-elect of the 76th session of the United Nations General Assembly.
During the meeting, they discussed ways to boost Maldives-Japan bilateral relations.
Shahid also discussed his priorities for the 76th session of the United Nations General Assembly, as well as the key topics of the “Presidency of Hope.”
His travel to Japan was at the request of the Japanese government. He left for Japan on August 26 and will return to the Maldives on August 28.
