While speaking at the news conference held by the Health Protection Agency (HPA) last night, The Chief Superintendent of Police, Abdullah Shareef has announced that the Sinamalé bridge will be closed during curfew hours from 9PM to 4AM.
Shareef said that the last bus ride will be at exactly 9PM and advised employers to let their employees finish their work before curfew time.
Moreover, all the permits issued on February 13, excluding the delivery passes will be invalid. The delivery passes for cafes and restaurants can be used until 3AM. Shops can request for a delivery pass to carry out delivery services until midnight.
A limited number of passes will be given to taxi centers, Shareef stated that it is the responsibility of the taxi driver to make sure that the passenger has obtained permission from the portal to be outdoors at curfew hours.
Shareef advised both foreigners and locals to adhere to the HPA rules while at crowded places such as at the market. He said that they have noticed individuals not following both the mandatory mask rule and the social distancing rule. Further, he requested cooperation from the citizens in the efforts of Maldives Police Service to protect the city against the spread of COVID-19.
