Speaker of the People’s Majlis Mohamed Nasheed took part in the World Majlis Earth 2.0 event in Dubai.
Speaker Nasheed attended the event, which was hosted at Expo 2020 Dubai as part of the expo’s climate and biodiversity week. Reengineering Planet Earth is the subject of this year’s World Majlis.
Participants at the seminar explored technology for modifying the biosphere, as well as the ethics, politics, and economics of deploying such approaches to reverse climate change. Several top government officials, as well as prominent intellectuals and scientists, spoke at the event.
Nasheed spoke during the event about how engineering talents may assist to halt climate change or provide strategies to adapt to it.
He also spoke with CNN during the exhibition, where he emphasised the concerns of increasing sea levels and temperatures. He pointed out that the Maldives, along with 48 other nations, are now vulnerable to climate change.
Speaker Nasheed also went to the Maldivian pavilion at Expo 2020 Dubai, as well as the pavilions set up by Italy, Sri Lanka, and India.
