Home Minister Imran Abdulla has revealed that a special task force has been formed to tackle the drug epidemic in the country.
During a ceremony held by the Maldives Police Service at K. Dhoonidhoo to dispose of seized drugs during various raids and operations, attended by Home Minister Imran along with Commissioner of Police Mohamed Hameed said that the government is keen to solve the drug epidemic in the country and several measures, including a special task force chaired by the President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has been formed to control and eradicate drug trade in the Maldives. Moreover, the task force is already engaged in several efforts and results will be evident during next year.
The drug epidemic is one of the growing social constraints in the Maldives with the majority of the youth population exposed to drugs. The government has vowed to fight the war against drugs and will do whatever it takes to secure the nation’s future.
