The Joint Committee report by the National Security Services/241 committee and Judiciary committee regarding the grand MMPRC corruption scandal has approved to terminate implicated employees who are employed in state positions.
The Committee requested the Assets Recovery Commission to conclude the investigation against any accused individual in electoral position as soon as possible, as they can only be removed from their position under a penalty cause or resignation. The Committee also urged to equip the Anti Corruption Commission (ACC) members with professional tools to assist the investigation.
The Committee also requested to recover the money from the implicated individuals, while the parliament inspects how the issue is being carried out. Further, the Chairperson of the Judiciary Committee, MP Imthiyaz Fahmy assured that the committee will publish the MMPRC corruption list to the public without making any amendments.
More than 270 people are implicated in the grand MMPRC scandal of USD 70 million worth of funds. The list includes former and current members of parliament, ministers and other senior officials in various official institutions in the Maldives.
