State Electric Company (STELCO) has stopped using plastic in the packaging of its water bottles.
STELCO announced that, as part of its aim to eliminate single-use plastic, the company has discontinued the sale of its plastic water bottles.
Under its Green Life initiative, the company stopped using single-use plastics in 35 of its power plants in April.
In response to STELCO’s decision to discontinue the manufacture of plastic water bottles, Hassan Mughnee, Managing Director of STELCO, stated that the company’s decision to discontinue the use of plastic in its water bottling process would aid in minimizing the environmental damage caused by plastics. In addition, he stated that he hopes more companies will follow STELCO’s example.
As part of its Green Life program, the company handed its employees reusable water bottles and cloth bags after banning the use of single-use plastics.
STELCO also stated that the company has installed water dispensers in each department at its main office to encourage proper water intake and a healthy lifestyle in the workplace.
