State Electric Company Limited (STELCO) has announced that it will stop using single use plastic and transition to a more environmentally friendly alternative.
During a special ceremony held today, STELCO announced that they will phase out single use plastic in and transition to a paperless alternative.
The ceremony was graced by STELCO’s Managing Director Hassan Mughnee and National Integrity Commission President Gasim Abdulkareem.
Managing Director of STELCO, Hassan Mughnee said its employees are being educated and made aware of environmentally friendly alternatives. Customers will be provided with paper bags instead of plastic bags and has banned materials that are not environmentally friendly. Moreover, he added that this is much more cost efficient.
Mughnee further highlighted the importance of STELCO’s Green Life initiative and said it is an important milestone in the history of the company.
