State Trading Organization (STO) has assured stable supply of flour despite India’s export ban on flour.
STO stated that there is a good reserve of flour at the moment. Moreover, flour is imported from Turkey as well which would not cause any major shortage even if India halts export to the Maldives.
Due to the adverse effects of the ongoing conflict between Ukraine and Russia, the shortage of flour in the global market forced India to temporarily halt flour export. According to the notice released by the Directorate General of Foreign Trade, new shipments of flour will be immediately stopped. However, it also noted that in order to maintain food security and support struggling nations, exports will be approved to those countries.
India is the second highest producer of flour in the world after China.
