State Trading Organisation (STO) has announced that it has received its first shipment of onions, eggs, and potatoes, which are set to be sold at affordable prices during the upcoming Ramadan season. STO has stated that the items are now available for purchase at its stores, with wider distribution set to commence on March 12th.
Moreover, the newly built Roadha Mart located in Hulhumale’ Phase II will also offer these products for sale by March 20th, while STO stores in 11 atolls will also have these items in stock. To ensure that people in all regions have access to these essential food items, STO has also planned to assist in delivering them to other islands in the area.
It is a common tradition in the Maldives for people to consume onions, eggs, and potatoes during Ramadan, and these products are in high demand during this time. As the demand for these items increases, so do their prices in local markets and shops, which can often make it difficult for people to afford them. To address this issue, STO imports these items every Ramadan to make them available at lower prices, ensuring that everyone can access these essential food items during the holy month.
