Hussain Amr, the Managing Director of State Trading Organisation (STO), has announced that the state-owned company is scheduled to launch its first cashier-less store in March.
The store will be located in Hulhumale’, and customers will be able to carry out business transactions through a mobile application. After registering their bank cards in the application, customers will be able to log in and shop in the store.
According to STO, the store will not only offer imported products, but will also include products from local businesses. There will be no employees working in the store, but STO assures customers that various safety measures will be in place. Artificial intelligence (AI) cameras will be installed in different areas of the store to manage hardware and store stock.
