The Ministry of Home Affairs has adopted the Strategic Policing Requirement, a new guideline created under the recently passed Police Service Act that specifies how the institute and all items relevant to it are formed and managed.
The Strategic Policing Requirement considers the fundamental concepts, guidelines, functions, and other characteristics of police personnel, with the goal of streamlining policing in the nation by assuring conformity to the Maldives Police Service Act.
When shaping the police service for further progress of police work, reduction of organised crime, and upholding societal peace, the police commissioner will now refer to the newly developed Strategic Policing Requirement.
The Strategic Policing Requirement gives instructions for developing different sectors of the Maldives Police Service, including human resource growth, jurisdictional extension, navy policing, and equipment acquisition and use.
The home ministry stated that when the targets outlined in the guidelines are met, beneficial improvements would be seen, and the Maldives Police Service’s efficiency will be improved.
With the implementation of the Strategic Policing Requirement, the home ministry also claimed that large organised crimes would be reduced and internal security would be increased.
