The Ministry of Education has announced students of schools in islands under monitoring due to the spread of COVID-19 will be undergoing a teacher-based assessment rather than physically attending school for exams.
The Minister of Education, Dr. Aishath Ali said students of schools where classes are still conducted online due to the COVID-19 situation will not be required to physically attend school for the end-of-semester exams. The minister added such students will undergo a teacher-based assessment for academic evaluation. However, students of other schools will be required to take their exams physically in school.
She further noted special arrangements will be made to assess students who test positive for COVID-19 during their exams and students taking their O’Level and A’Level exams, as these exams are more crucial for the students.
All schools in the Greater Male’ Region along with schools in 73 islands or so are conducting their classes online due to the COVID-19 situation.
