All ten individuals involved in the huge narcotics raid of large amounts of heroin smuggled into the nation by sea have been charged.
The ten individuals were apprehended on October 13 during a 24-hour anti-drug trafficking operation by the Drug Enforcement Department (DED), Drug Intelligence, Marine Police, and Forensics Department.
According to the Prosecutor General’s Office, charges were filed against the 10 individuals before the Criminal Court on Monday.
The PG Office has filed three charges in relation with the 100-kilo drug bust case, with eight defendants facing diamorphine trafficking charges, five individuals accused with cannabis use and one with diamorphine charge.
The following suspects have been charged with diamorphine trafficking:
- Juman Musthafa, 19, Beach Heaven, N. Velidhoo
- Ibrahim Zaidh Habeeb, 25, Sosunge, GA. Kolamaafushi
- Mohamed Ahmed, 34, Janavareemaage, L. Kalaidhoo
- Ibrahim Sinaan, 24, Dear Friend, HDh. Kumundhoo
- Mohamed Hussain, 61, Polaris, Dh. Bandidhoo
- MD Rafeegul Islam, 35, Bangladesh
- DM Mobin, 24, Bangladesh
- Ahmed Mahir, Sweetmead, K. Maafushi
Charged with cannabis use:

Mohamed Hussain, 61, of Polaris, Dh. Bandidhoo, was charged with diamorphine use.
The identities of just eight of the 10 suspects were revealed by police, as the Criminal Court freed two during the remand hearing.
