Environment, Climate Change and Technology Minister Aminath Shauna briefed the Parliament on Monday that talks with SpaceX’s representatives regarding the Starlink access in the Maldives are ongoing.
The Environment Ministry held a meeting with representatives from SpaceX on February 13. discussions during the virtual meeting focused on SpaceX’s plans to provide high-speed, low-latency broadband internet across the globe using their advanced satellites.
SpaceX requested the Environment Ministry not to disclose the details regarding the meeting at this time, but that talks with the company are ongoing, according to Minister Shauna.
Starlink provides high-speed, low-latency broadband internet across the globe. Within each coverage area, orders are fulfilled on a first-come, first-served basis.
