A group of vigilantes has physically assaulted a teacher who allegedly groomed and sexually assaulted a student.
A video of the incident which occurred near Hiya Flats in Hulhumale’ Phase II shows a supposed teacher of Ghaazee School being assaulted by a group of vigilantes who accused him of grooming and sexually assaulting a 12-year-old boy.
Moreover, the people in the video claim that the teacher came to the boy’s home to take tuition and purposely groomed the boy by offering chocolate, submarines, and other snacks. They also accused the teacher of showing pornographic videos to the boy.
Maldives Police Service has confirmed that they have received reports of a 29-year-old man being physically assaulted by a group of people in Hulhumale Phase II around 22:00 on Tuesday. The man is currently in custody pending further investigation, according to Police.
