The privacy focused messaging app, Telegram, is getting a new update which provides options for auto-deleting messages, expiration of invite links, and new unlimited groups, the company announced on its blog. Telegram recently had a surge of new users following WhatsApp privacy concerns, and now the company is implementing features which offer more security and privacy.
Telegram’s Secret Chat feature already had the auto-deleting features, but now with this new update users will be able to send disappearing message in any kind of chat. This feature can be enabled inside of chats and select for the message to disappear after 24 hours or after a week.
The new changes to groups include a kind of immediate, informative audio experiences that has become popular with the rise of invite-only app called Clubhouse. Broadcast Groups feature on Telegram will now allow unlimited number of users to join.
To help the growth of Groups, Telegram is adding expiring invite links which can be set to expire after a certain amount of time or after a certain number of users have joined. With this new update, group admins should be able to monitor the group more easily and limit number of users who can join to keep private subjects a little more private.
